Dreams Really Do Come True — The Micheal's Made by You Campaign

Updated: Jul 19, 2022

Hey Babes!

Over the past few years, I have seen so much growth in my business. I have gone from this artist who just wanted to share her craft to an all out content creator and influencer. And it has happened SO FAST.

I have worked with some amazing brands in the past year. Mother Tumbler, Glitter Heart Co., Auntie Tay, BAMF Custom Creations, Crayola, Circuit…almost too many to name. And they have all been absolutely amazing, and the experience has been beyond words.

But a few months ago I was contacted by a brand that wanted to work with me, and shocked, excited, and overwhelmed with joy and gratitude are just a few of the feelings I had.

Can you guess what brand it was?

Michael's. THE MICHAEL'S. My absolute FAVORITE craft store that I've been shopping in since I was a kid contacted me. ME.

I was contacted by Michael’s via social media, where I have experienced exponential growth in the past year. They asked me if I wanted to be apart of the Made By You campaign, a new campaign representing creators across the country in different areas of artistic craft, to showcase products and their work! I IMMEDIATELY said yes!

It was such a whirlwind experience, and it happened so fast. Micheal’s relayed to me the details of the campaign, and immediately I was pretty worried. You see, we are a military family and we were gearing up for a Permanent Change of Station (PCS for short, and just a military term for moving). Michael’s wanted to send a film crew of 15 people to my little ol’ house on West Point just weeks before we were set to move! And if you are military, you know that the weeks before a PCS are already super stressful. Now tie in an actual real live film crew from the biggest craft brand in the country coming to my own house, and I knew it was going to be crazy. But exciting. And wonderful and brilliant and perfection and OMG I was so excited!

I had just a few weeks to plan. The film crew and I were in constant contact about what to expect the day of the shoot. Michael's worked around my PCS schedule which was amazing and we planned to shoot just 1 week before my big move to Georgia. ONE WEEK. So amongst the organizing for our move (hello packing kids and dogs and all the stuff) I was also going to have THE MICHAEL’S in my house. But I honestly wouldn’t have had it any other way.

The Micheal’s Made by You campaign features different creators in different categories. I planned 2 projects to show off "Tech" which was the category they wanted decided me for so I showed how to create a beautiful textured positive affirmation embroidery hoop using my Cricut Explore Air 3 and the Cricut mini heat press. I ended up making a really colorful installation and it definitely BROUGHT THE COLOR!

The second project we did was Floral Infusible Ink Mugs. I showed how to make a set of 4 and they were so colorful and boho and just PERFECT. I used the Cricut Mug Press for that project.

What it was like having Michael’s in my house

I have 4 kids and 2 giant dogs. At the time we were stationed at West Point in upstate New York, and our military housing was TINY!

Just like anyone before a big event, I was nervous. I spent days thinking about the shoot, dreaming about it, cleaning my house, and making arrangements for my family and dogs for when the crew would be there. I was so worried for shoot day but was also so excited and confident in what I was doing because I know I was BORN TO CREATE!

The day of the shoot I cleaned the entire house and could not wait for the crew to get there! They flew in and showed up to my door, and Big went out and picked up Dunkin' for the crew. Thank God everyone got through security and the gate...if you've ever been to a military installation sometimes that part can be a bit tedious.

The crew came to my door and I instantly made friends! They were so kind and genuine, and it really made all the difference to make me feel much more comfortable with the entire process. Todd, the director was so nice! My neighbors were all "what is going on at the Quigley house?!" because of all the cars and cameras 🤣

They were only there for a few hours, but we were able to get some amazing shots and footage for the commercial. It went by way too fast, though!

After the shoot was complete, I shipped my projects down to the Michael's headquarters for them to put them on display in Texas. And then, just a week later I was on a flight down to Georgia after my house was packed up. Having this shoot with Michael’s was such a great way to say good bye to New York, and such a sweet way to create memories of our West Point home.

I want to thank all the babes in my Creative CommUNITY for continuing to support me as well as my family. This opportunity was unbelievably surreal. I am so honored to be one of the creators for the Made by You campaign with Micheal’s. Thank you thank you thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your love and support. I could not and would not be here without you all!

The commercial will be airing online and on television ads, so if you see me, make sure to say HIIIII and a "Hey! I KNOW HER!"
